It's been a long long while hasn't it? Well allow us to give you a refresher on our list of the Top 5 Best Clans on NWO as well as where you can find us these days!
We know it's been a while since you've heard of this game but after going over some of the clans, we decided to give a brief rundown of which clans you can expect to see a lot of play before any major changes. Each clan and sub-clan were judged individually based off of their kit (as of writing this) and their performance in the various modes in this game. If you don't see a clan you like in this list, don't discourage! A large majority of the clans are relative to each other in power while maintaining their own nuances to make them stand out, but for now we're taking a look at just the top five. So let's kick things off with our first entry!
Number 5
For one of the first premiere clans in the game, the Jaganshi Sub-Clan (based off of Yu Yu Hakusho's Hiei) has managed to stand the test of time by being the strongest Sub-Clans in the game. It's main draw is that it's a completely offensive clan that can elevate even the most under-developed clans to give them a fighting chance against the more common oppositions like Uchiha's, Arrancars, and SOLDIERs. Unleashing both the Jagan Eye and the Jagan Form will raise the users stats, but the real things to watch out for are the Darkness Flame techniques. The Black Dragon Wave will continuously hurl dragon shaped heads dyed in black flames at the enemy or until the user exhausts themselves out of the technique. Sword of the Darkness Flame is an attack that should you get too close, you'll find yourself in a world of trouble, as it is extremely lethal on contact. As strong as Jaganshi's are, they lack real defensive abilities, and their all or nothing style is something that can be stalled out to the users detriment especially when most of their arsenal consists of projectiles. However, these weaknesses can be worked around depending on which main clan they're paired with, elevating the performance of both halves with a synergistic play style, which is the true strength of this Sub-Clan.
Number 4
It should come as no surprise to see an Uchiha making any list involving clan strength. However, as you may recall, the Uchiha Clan is broken up into three styles, so our number four entry will be talking about the style modeled off of Itachi Uchiha. Fighting against an Itachi user can be one of the most nightmare-ish experiences in this game. They are proficient at fighting long range with abilities such as Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. Additionally, with Susano'o, they can shut down projectiles forcing you to commit to the mid/close range while they can continue the pressure from a distance. If you get too close to them, you'll either get hit by the Totsuka Blade; which cancels all of your buffs and abilities for 20 seconds, or even worse - the Izanami, which will grant them control over your movements for how ever long they desire. When you're alone, an Itachi user has complete dominance over you if you don't know what you're doing, though it is different with allies whether it be other players or mobs (clones/summons/etc). You can push to overwhelm the master illusionist with sheer numbers since their attacks are very limited to single target with no AoE, but even the slightest mistake can invalidate the number advantage, so do proceed with caution.
Number 3
For number 3 we have our second Uchiha Style to make it on the list; the Sasuke Uchiha Style - Madara unfortunately didn't make the cut. We'd like to take this time to preface that Sasuke only has moves prior to the War Arc, so anything after his fight with Danzo is not in the game yet. With that being said, he's still just as powerful and has the potential to become even stronger. He is everything that Itachi Style is not, close to mid-range fighter that has projectiles and AoE's for hoards. One of which being Kirin; a powerful Lightning Style attack that does extremely high damage to the target and everyone else around them. Sasuke can also play the long ranged game with both Susano'o and Dark Piston that is pretty wide range fired at the opponent. Even with a lack of utilities, this clan is an aggressive killing machine and won't stop until there's nothing left in its way. What ranks him higher than Itachi is that he isn't worse in any scenario whereas Itachi can struggle in multi-enemy scenarios - in fact Sasuke thrives in that environment a lot. He also has better control of spacing by using Dark Piston to keep enemies at bay and forcing them to play around it. All in all, while Itachi has strong win conditions, Sasuke wins out with better adaptability especially when he's missing moves from the War Arc and beyond. As a final point, from the start of the game, the Uchiha clan as a whole (including Itachi and Madara Styles) are not allowed to obtain a Sub-Clan for better or for worse (due to how powerful they were with Sub-Clans over everything else in the game at the time). Meaning with just their kits alone, they're holding up exceptionally well and competing against clans that can get a Sub-Clan as strong as the aforementioned Jaganshi. It goes without saying that the Uchiha's should never be underestimated.
Number 2
For our second spot, we have Maverick Hunter, based off of Zero from the Megaman X (and Megaman Zero) series! Like Jaganshi, Maverick Hunter was one the premiere clans for this game, meaning it's been here since the start. And much like Jaganshi, it's still living its golden age. Maverick Hunter is a predominantly close/mid-ranged clan due to their speed and the use of their Z-Saber. Each of it's attacks has properties for almost any situation; Ryuenjin can burn away buffs, Hyoretsuzan can ground & freeze enemies, Shippuga is a projectile that goes through shields and does lethal damage, Raijingeki is a homing projectile. It also comes equipped with Kuuenbu, which serves as a shield against projectiles for a short amount of time while making you mobile. However, Maverick Hunters have Rakuhoha as their wide AoE attack, and Dark Hold which can lock the positions and blind the enemies of anyone it catches (which is everyone within the Maverick Hunter's view). If they have to pull out all of the stops, they can Awaken or even tap into the Nightmare Virus giving them a massive buff. The Maverick Hunter Clan doesn't have any particular downsides while they a plethora of moves for any situation, making them an extremely versatile clan and a powerful one to boot. This paired with the ability to get any Sub-Clan earns Maverick Hunters at minimum 2nd place, if not, tied with our #1 placement.
Honorable Mentions
We're not gonna spend too much time going over these clans as they didn't make the list but definitely wanting to highlight three of some of the noteworthy contenders for the Best Clans. You can combine entries #3 & #4 as one "Uchiha" and these would be on par or just slightly under Jaganshi. However, you dice it, these three and the other clans shouldn't be brushed off because they're not on the list since they're just as strong as the ones mentioned above.
Number 1
How poetic that the clan modeled after the One-Winged Angel is the actual number one best clan. Realistically, the difference between Maverick Hunter and Reunion are so minor that they're interchangeable. Reunion has the threat that Itachi has, the offensive pressure that Sasuke and Jaganshi have, and more or less the versatility that Zero has all in one. For starters, this clan is primarily a single target based clan that performs well regardless of range. They can force themselves into close range with Hell's Gate and swing with Octa-Slash. For multi-enemy scenarios: Fervent Blow is their go-to projectile and Supernova as a powerful AoE, while Shadow's Flare as a long ranged attack. Similar to the Itachi Style, Reunion has two wincons over any enemy. One is Pale Flame, if you get hit by this, it becomes a race against time since you'll be taking high damage over time until you die. The other is Heartless Angel, a move that can be casted from long range that drops your HP to 1. The advantage that this clan commands when either one of these moves hit is unmatched. While Maverick Hunter has a lot more versatility in how to approach a battle, Reunion has a multitude of ways to end a fight. And while the Sasuke Style excels at controlling the fight space, Reunion can control the entire flow of a fight. Surprisingly, this clan has access to get a sub-clan even with a moveset as strong as this - which even if they were locked from a Sub-Clan, Sephiroth has no shortage of moves that can be used to expand Reunion's kit even more. All of this to say, if you're up against this clan, expect despair.
